Intellectual Property Law in a European Context
In 2007 the summer seminar was held between the 23rd and 28th of July with the topic Intellectual Property Law in a European Context.
The focus of the academic programme was as follows:
The ELSA Summer Seminar 2007 has as its purpose to grant its participants a greater understanding of Intellectual Property Law in a European context. To this end, the seminar will involve lectures on the registration of such rights, the maintenance of the rights, how the rights are protected in a court of law once they have been breached, as well as a talk on the challenges faced by such established rights.
The lectures given will be set in a logical series of the process through which IPR is dealt with. That will range from the acquisition and registration of such rights, through to the challenges faced by them in the future.
The location of the seminar is the fantastic Main Building of the University, which will provide an excellent frame for the series of lectures.
Besides the lectures, the Seminar will include a number of visits to companies which hold established trademarks, as well as firms which specifically deal with intellectual property rights and trademarks, such as Chas Hude.
Traditionally, the seminar attracts students from all over Europe, and with as exciting and relevant a topic as the one offered this year, we are confident that the seminar will be a great success.
We owe a great thank to the sponsors of the seminar, whom without their financial support we could not have carried out the seminar:
